Architecture

Server, agents, safes, and the update path.

Components

  • rubixd — Linux server: safes, schedules, GC, verify, console.
  • Windows agent — outbound; VSS volume backup.
  • Linux agent — outbound; file-tree backup.
  • Hub — catalog, licensing, public update packages.

Data path

Agents send chunk backups into encrypted safes on rubixd. Deduplication is on ciphertext. Optional E2E mode keeps keys off the server — see security.

What is not claimed

Complete peer replication. Suite parity with other vendors. Rubix-hosted SaaS backup.
