Ask Rubix Backup a question. Answers come from this site's docs only. I will cite a page. I will not invent a product claim.
Veeam alternative — scoped self-hosted backup
Self-hosted backup with E2E safes — not suite parity. Honest wedge: you host rubixd, agents dial out, safes are AES-256-GCM with optional E2E. Not a claim of full suite replacement.
Who hosts the backup server
Rubix Backup is software you run. Linux rubixd on your host. There is no Rubix-hosted SaaS backup path presented as the product.
Keys and ciphertext
Encrypted-at-rest safes. E2E mode so the server does not hold plaintext or decryption keys. That is the confidentiality wedge — not a checklist race against Veeam.
What we do not claim
Feature parity with Veeam. Microsoft 365 backup. Linux LVM block-volume backup. Complete peer replication. Certification badges we have not earned on this page.
What ships
Outbound Windows (VSS) and Linux (file tree) agents, chunk backup, GFS retention, GC, verify, schedules, Hub online updates.
